As part of ongoing efforts to combat commercial fraud and protect intellectual property rights in Egypt, ATB IP coordinated with relevant authorities and carried out an enforcement action against an unlicensed factory involved in the manufacture and distribution of automotive lubricants bearing trademarks represented by our clients.
The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 20,000 liters of automotive lubricants, along with raw materials used in the manufacturing process. The products were stored in containers displaying counterfeit commercial information and were identified as being of unknown origin and unsuitable for use.
The seized products were reportedly being prepared for distribution in the Egyptian market through the unauthorized use of well-known trademarks, creating a risk of consumer deception and causing potential harm to legitimate brand owners and businesses.
The action highlights the importance of intelligence-led enforcement and close cooperation between rights holders and authorities in identifying and disrupting counterfeit manufacturing operations. By targeting the source of production, enforcement efforts can help prevent counterfeit goods from reaching the market and protect consumers and legitimate businesses from potentially harmful and misleading products.
