UAE: Hidden Floors, Secret Rooms, and Almost a Million Dirhams Worth of Counterfeit Products Uncovered in Major Warehouse Raid

A month of surveillance and a carefully coordinated operation led to one of the largest counterfeit personal care product seizures of the year.

Beginning with intelligence from a trusted source indicating that a warehouse was being used to store counterfeit body and personal care products. The information immediately drew attention because the warehouse was linked to a well-known trader who previously had been the subject of a major enforcement action in 2024 where multiple warehouses under his control were found to contain counterfeit products.

Rather than move immediately, several weeks were spent building a clearer picture of the operation. Continuous surveillance revealed a steady flow of activity at the warehouse. Cartons suspected of containing counterfeit products were regularly seen leaving the premises, while two 40-feet shipping containers were observed arriving and being unloaded into the facility over a two-day period. The movement of stock suggested the warehouse was not merely being used for storage but remained an active hub for the distribution of counterfeit goods.

Once sufficient evidence had been gathered, a formal complaint was submitted to relevant authorities. After reviewing the intelligence and surveillance findings, the authorities approved enforcement action and coordinated a raid for the morning of 25 June 2026.

On entering the warehouse, they found substantial quantities of body and personal care products packed in brown shipping cartons, consistent with those observed during the surveillance period. What initially appeared to be a straightforward warehouse inspection quickly developed into something far larger.

As the search progressed, a concealed second floor heavily stocked with suspected counterfeit products was discovered. Many of the cartons were deliberately left plain and unmarked, offering little indication of their contents. Each carton was therefore opened and examined individually, revealing counterfeit products bearing numerous internationally recognized brands.

The most significant discovery came later during the inspection, when a hidden door leading to a concealed storage area was identified. Behind it was an additional cache of counterfeit products, further increasing the scale of the operation and suggesting a deliberate effort to hide the true volume of infringing goods stored within the premises.

Every carton, regardless of its markings, was systematically opened and verified. The painstaking approach proved critical, leading to the identification of additional counterfeit brands and significantly expanding the scope of the enforcement action.

By the end of the search, authorities had seized almost 200,000 counterfeit products across multiple internationally recognized brands.

Following the raid, all seized products were inventoried and transferred to a secure storage pending the outcome of legal proceedings. The discovery of concealed storage areas, disguised packaging, and significant stock volumes underscores the level of sophistication increasingly seen in counterfeit distribution operations across the region.

This outcome reflects the value of combining reliable intelligence with patient surveillance and close cooperation with law enforcement. What began as a single tip developed into a major enforcement action, removing almost 200,000 counterfeit products from the market and providing important intelligence into the wider networks responsible for their distribution.
