In a significant development, on June 13, 2023, two factories producing counterfeit detergents and antiseptics were raided in UAE. Our team discovered this information about two warehouses manufacturing and storing infringing detergent powder.
During the first raid, our team with the law enforcement officials found an alarming quantity of antiseptic products along with a few infringing detergent products identified as counterfeit. Undeterred, the team proceeded to the trader’s second warehouse, knowing there was more to this operation than they had found. As expected, a substantial quantity of infringing detergent powder was found at the warehouse. Interestingly, the warehouse, initially thought to be merely a storage facility, turned out to be a factory and in toto, almost 20,000 – 25,000 products of finished as well as unfinished antiseptics and detergents were found.
The same company had already been caught for similar illicit activities last year, for distributing counterfeit detergents, which had severe implications on the trader. The audacity displayed by counterfeiters is astonishing and their disregard for the law, consumer safety, is extremely disappointing.
The success of the raids resulted in the confiscation of counterfeit products, ultimately preventing these illicit goods from reaching the market, thereby safeguarding consumers from potential harm.
