EGYPT RAID: OVER 20,000 FAKE SHOES SEIZED FOLLOWING A LEAD THROUGH SAUDI CUSTOMS ON A FACTORY IN EGYPT EXPORTING TO SAUDI ARABIA

Following intelligence received from Saudi Customs regarding suspicious shipments containing counterfeit footwear, a coordinated ATB enforcement action was undertaken in Egypt. The investigation revealed that the seized consignments originated from a manufacturing facility in Egypt believed to be the source of the counterfeit goods.

Our on-ground investigative team conducted extensive surveillance and inquiries, which led to the identification of a factory operating across three floors and employing more than 100 workers. The facility demonstrated a high-volume production capacity and was engaged in the unauthorized manufacturing of counterfeit shoes bearing the trademarks of internationally recognized brands.

Based on the findings, a raid was executed at the factory, resulting in the seizure of approximately 20,000 counterfeit footwear items as well as a considerable quantity of raw materials intended for illegal production. This action highlights the scale and sophistication of the counterfeit operation.

The raid underscores the importance of cross-border collaboration between enforcement bodies and private stakeholders in tackling intellectual property violations. It also serves as a firm step toward dismantling illicit manufacturing operations that compromise consumer safety and brand integrity across the region.

ATB Legal proceedings are currently underway against the individuals responsible for managing and operating the facility.
