IP Country Update

Under the stipulations of Article 32 within this new legislation, the protection period for trademarks has been revised downward from fifteen to ten years. This amendment applies exclusively to trademarks registered subsequent to the law’s enactment; trademarks registered prior will continue to benefit from the original fifteen-year protection term. Notably, trademarks registered under the new law will require renewal at the conclusion of a ten-year period from their date of registration.

Furthermore, the law has instituted an increase in the official fees related to the filing, registration, renewal, and documentation of intellectual property rights, signifying a notable shift in the cost structure for these legal services.
