In collaboration with the UAE Enforcement Authorities, ATB IP recently conducted a successful raid on a counterfeit operation against a manufacturing facility of Lubricant Oils of well-known brands.
The raid resulted from meticulous planning and coordination of our team and the Authorities leading to the seizure of counterfeit lubricants, lubricant filling machines, and oil drums worth more than half a million Dirhams.
This raid was conducted on a warehouse, where factory employees were caught filling and packaging counterfeit Motor Oil for subsequent distribution. The discovery of oil filling machines and oil drums in the facility strongly indicates that the target intended to expand its illicit business operations.
The trader’s actions have violated the laws and regulations applicable to trademarks and fraudulent or deceptive practices in commercial transactions in the UAE.
It is rather unfortunate to comprehend that the manufacturing and distribution of counterfeit lubricants are increasing at alarming levels, posing a significant threat to customers, and resulting in vehicles experiencing reduced fuel efficiency and potential catastrophic engine failures. Therefore, it is imperative to take necessary action against such acts of counterfeiting.
Such raids are a testament to the collaborative efforts of our team along with the support of the brand owners and the Enforcement Authorities in the UAE in combating such counterfeiting activities and protecting the integrity of renowned brands.
