The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming an internationally recognized Searching and Preliminary Examining Authority.

The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP) has recently revealed its appointment as an International Searching and Preliminary Examining Authority within the framework of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT/ISA/IPEA). This marks SAIP’s establishment as the second international body capable of supporting the Arabic language in patent search and examination processes.

In light of this development, those submitting Patent Cooperation Treaty applications in Arabic are now afforded the ability to select SAIP as their International Search Authority (ISA).

This significant recognition was unanimously endorsed by the 193 member states of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Consequently, international patent applicants from these member nations are now able to opt for the SAIP as an approved International Search Authority. This enables SAIP to produce search reports for international patent applications under the aegis of WIPO.
